O3 Gallery

Children under 5 years old, parents and guardians will be warmly welcomed to O3 Gallery in the heart of Oxford Castle this Christmas to get creative with recycled materials, and create a special seasonal something out of nothing in particular.  These workshops will take place from 9.30 – 11.30am, Monday 5th to Friday  9th December and Monday 12th to Friday 16th December, they are drop in sessions, and will cost £3 per child.

Britain From the Air is a stunning collection of over 100 large scale images by Britain's foremost aerial photographers, developed jointly by Wecommunic8 and the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG). From coastal erosion and abandoned villages to transport networks and the growth of our cities, Britain from the Air, combines the beauty and abstract contours of these landscapes with their stories; inviting the viewer to explore their local, regional and national environment from a completely different perspective.

Make your mark in Oxford’s oldest new quarter on The Big Draw day! All ages and abilities are invited to learn about the history of heraldry, and share in the creative process of mark making. Collect chalks from Oxford Castle – Unlocked and O3 Gallery and express your identity by designing a coat of arms and finding a paving stone within the designated drawing zones to bring history to life!

Connecting generations and communities The Big Draw is a month long event organised by The Campaign for Drawing. A celebration of the creative process, participation in The Big Draw helps us to think, invent, and communicate. The Campaign for Drawing took its initial inspiration from the visionary Victorian art-critic, social thinker, artist and writer, John Ruskin, who was educated at Christ Church, Oxford. The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art on Oxford High Street was founded in 1871 by the very same John Ruskin.

Nb. You will be required to leave a refundable £2 deposit when you collect your chalks.

Children will be invited to enter their coat of arms design into a competition where the winner will receive some great art materials to help them continue making their mark beyond the Big Draw! The Oxford Castle Big Draw competition is kindly sponsored by Broad Canvas art shop.
